Safety records need more than a green tick
By Nick Devonport, Managing Director · England · Reviewed 26 October 2026
The scenario below is illustrative. It explains our approach; it is not a customer testimonial or a report of a completed case.
A completed-looking checklist can be reassuring, but I want our team to ask what evidence supports it. Safety preparation depends on competent assessment and appropriate action, rather than the colour of a screen.
A moment in the moving journey
Picture a host uploading a report that relates to an earlier use of the property. The document may still be useful, but the team needs to identify whether the current arrangement has been considered by the appropriate person. A date and filename cannot answer that question alone.
How our property portal helps
Our property portal can organise relevant documents and property information. That helps colleagues find the record and identify a question for the host or competent adviser. The software does not inspect the building or certify that all requirements have been satisfied.

The people behind the process
The host, safety professionals and operational team need a practical handover. If work is recommended, there should be a clear conversation about what has actually been completed and what evidence confirms it. I want our communication to distinguish preparation, attendance and outcome.
Your next step
Before a property is offered to guests, ask who has reviewed the relevant safety arrangements and which evidence supports the current position. A thoughtful answer should go beyond showing that a file exists.
