The chain update that actually helps you plan
By Nick Devonport, Managing Director · England · Reviewed 26 October 2026
The scenario below is illustrative. It explains our approach; it is not a customer testimonial or a report of a completed case.
'We are chasing' tells a customer that somebody is busy. It does not always tell them what is happening. I want our updates to explain the next dependency in language the person moving home can use.
A moment in the moving journey
Consider a seller waiting for news from a buyer's solicitor. The unresolved item might be a search, a mortgage condition or a reply from a third party. Each creates a different planning conversation. We should avoid promising movement until the person responsible has confirmed the position.
How our property portal helps
When Sales is enabled, our property portal's progression and moving diary tools can help structure those conversations. A recorded milestone is useful when it identifies the question behind it. Customers need an explanation of what an update means, particularly if they are deciding when to give notice or arrange removals.
The people behind the process
As MD, I want teamwork to feel visible without overwhelming customers with every internal message. The agent coordinates, the conveyancer advises and the customer makes informed decisions. If a timetable changes, our explanation should change with it.
Your next step
Ask us what the next dependency is, who controls it and when the position will be reviewed. Those three questions often make a complicated chain feel more understandable.
Sales portal journeys described here depend on Sales being enabled on the website. Ask the team which services and tools are available for your move.
